Gold Coast beach closures on Anzac Day have inspired a group of seniors to bring the beach to them in a project that has lifted spirits ahead of commemorations. Her husband Don served in WWII and Faye Mead, 90, is amongst those residents from Ozcare’s Burleigh Heads Aged Care Facility remembering the nation’s fallen on April 25th. It will be an Anzac Day like no other across the coast and Australia as veterans face the challenges of physical distancing on a day traditionally about unity.…
The delicious aroma of home-baked goodies from a portable oven is flooding the corridors of an aged care facility in one of Queensland’s remote tropical areas as staff focused on lifting the spirits of those seniors in isolation due to the virus crisis. Staff at Ozcare Port Douglas in Far North Queensland have baked scones and cheese and herb biscuits for residents in the corridors of the facility as a way of bringing the smell of “home baked goodness” to them while they are unable to gather with more than five residents at a time.…

A mini construction boom at Ozcare’s revolutionary new aged care facility in Mackay has led to the creation of four times as many jobs as predicted during the building phase. With the 120-bed facility set to open in June, the widespread economic benefit from the project has included the creation of 600 construction jobs – soaring well above an original estimate of 150 jobs.…
